Distance Coach Jeff Miller

Jeffrey R. Miller holds a BS in Physical Education and Coaching from UW-LaCrosse (1981) and a MEPD Masters in Education Professional Development from UW-Whitewater (1993).  He is the University of Wisconsin Whitewater Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach and an Assistant Track Coach (1982– present) 

Jeff Miller is currently in his 24th season of coaching at UW- Whitewater.  Since becoming the head coach cross country coach,  the Warhawks have sent ten teams to the NCAA Cross Country Championships. 

The women have had a best place finish of 4th in 1991 and the Men have had a best place finish of 5th in 1999.  Whitewater has produced 29 female WIAC All Conference runners and 28 male WIAC All Conference runners since 1982 and has produced 15 NCAA Division III All-Americans during that time in cross country. 

Miller has been named WIAC Coach of the Year three different times (1990, 1992, 1995) and is the only coach in conference history to be named both as a Women’s and as a Men’s Coach of the Year.  He is also the only coach from the WIAC Conference to have coached both a Men’s and Women’s team in the NCAA Division III National Cross Country Meet. 

Miller has established a summer running camp for boys and girls which since 1985 has become one of the finest running camps in the Midwest.  Miller is currently the NCAA Division III Midwest Region Rep for Women’s Cross Country and is the coordinator of the NCAA Division III Women’s NCAA Cross Country Poll which is produced weekly during the fall season. 

In track, Miller has coached men and women to 23 WIAC Conference distance titles.  At the National level since 1982, Whitewater has claimed 27 all-American honors in the distance events with 3 national Champions (Outdoor 880-1992, Indoor 5000-2002, Outdoor 10,000-2001) and 3 National Runner Ups (Indoor 800-1988, Indoor 5000-2001, Outdoor 1500-2001). 

Miller and his wife Laurie reside in the city of Whitewater with their three very active children, daughter Devin, and sons Drew and Dawson.
