Throws Coach Dave Hahn

Dave Hahn enters his eighth year as the leader of one of the most successful throws programs in the United States.  The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men’s throwers have ranked number one in the nation the past three years (2004, 05, 06) based on their successful performances at the NCAA Division III Indoor and Outdoor Championships.

While coaching the Warhawks, Hahn’s athletes have captured numerous conference and national honors.  Four individual national champions, two national runners up, and six third place national finishers have been produced under the watchful eye of Coach Hahn.  The Warhawks have dominated the men’s hammer throw in national competition by winning the individual title three out of the past five years.  Over all, twenty five All-American honors have been bestowed upon Coach Hahn’s male and female throwers.

In 2004, Jeremy Wendt captured national titles in the indoor weight throw and outdoor hammer throw.  Wendt’s performances established NCAA Division III records in both the weight throw and hammer and also earned him the title of “Field Event Athlete of the Meet” at the 2004 NCAA Outdoor Championships.  Wendt also met the 2004 Olympic Trials qualifying standard in the hammer throw during the 2004 season.

In WIAC (Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) competition, Coach Hahn has tutored eight conference champions and four conference records have been set by the Warhawk throwers.

Hahn graduated Magna Cum Laude from UW-Platteville in 2002, with a degree in elementary and middle-level education. He was a four year letter winner and four-time NCAA All-American in the hammer throw and 35 lb. weight throws during his career at UW-Platteville.

Coach Hahn, in addition to his coaching duties, works as an admissions representative for UW-Whitewater.
